Our History

Tri-State General was founded in 1979 by Ed Dickerson, Sr. in a small office located in Salisbury, MD. At that time Tri-State represented a couple of London based insurance companies writing only property and general liability business. The agency expanded in 1990 to provide transportation coverage. We have continued to grow each year in premium as well as our representation of insurance companies. Today Tri-State represents numerous “A” rated markets writing all lines of property and casualty coverage.
Business is written in MD, VA, PA, DE, NJ, and DC. We have an office located in Salisbury MD and another in Mechanicsville VA. Our staff of 50 includes 16 underwriters waiting to provide you with a quote.
